40 and beyond!

Just turned 40. Man pretty hard to conceive really. Someone hit the turbo when I turned 30 I reckon.

Kids are good. Ari is not far off 3 and continues to amaze (and amuse) his mum and dad with what he comes out with, and suddenly has the ability to do. Mana is doing well, putting on lots of weight and seemingly a fair bit taller than he should be at this stage. He’s a good baby, and has been a real blessing considering we’ve got an energy filled, reasonably strong willed 2 year old to contend with.

Ari has quickly grown to love his little brother and already protects him fiercely, which is reasonably ironic considering most of the time it’s Ari and his, at times, over exuberant desire to help that mum and I are trying to protect Mana from.

I’ve attached a couple of recent photos of the boys. One is of Ari and his cousin Emily. Mum had just suggested he give Emily a kiss, the photo says it all really.

More new photos of the boys

The boys are starting to build relationship. You can see Ari is really beginning to love the little guy, and Mana's smiling the moment he catches sight of his older brother. The only recent blight on that record, was a shoe thrown at head incident, but i reckon it was more a two year old reaction than a pre-meditated one. Fortunately Mana was all good.

Inglewood

We spent Waitangi weekend at Inglewood near New Plymouth, with family for a 1st birthday party. Four kids under five, six adults and one puppy made for some interesting moments, but all in all it was good to get down there to see little Molly blow out her candles (with a little help from her cousin of course), to see family, and big up's to B&B for putting up with us all there.

The above are photos of the weekend.

All Good!

Mum took Mana back to see Xray specialist last night, who informed her that Mana could now have his cast off as there is no fracture, in fact there never has been. Apparently with a baby they cannot confirm a fracture until 10 days after the event, as it could be misread as something else.

Anyway bottom line is the cast is gone. Pretty annoying, but man absolutely no complaints, as our boy is miraculously fine, given how bad it could have been. Praise God!!!

Mana Xray Results and New Photos

We had Mana's leg re-xrayed Friday night. Unfortunately it looks as though the fracture hasn't changed too much, so the cast went back on again for at least another 10 days. He seems to be doing real well with it all though, but we're hoping it's off sooner rather than later.

Here are some new photos of the kids... and an absolute shocker of their dad. Yeah you're right, I feel as tired as I look :). But it's all worth it.

Boy Doing Well

So far Mr Mana is doing very well with the whole cast situation. Hasn't really seemed to bother him much at all, especially considering the current one he has on is his third. The last one fell off his leg early hours of Sunday morning. We weren't overly surprised given the nurses were trying hard not to make it too tight for him, and i take my hat off to them for even being able to get a cast on a 7 week old wriggly baby anyway.

Cast comes off tomorrow for a re-xray, so we're hoping the results are good and that will be that. Was looking at it the other day and thought it'll actually be great momento for him, to have an actual cast of his leg at 7 weeks old. Obviously prefer not to have had to go through the episode by which it came about, but sill worth looking on the bright side.

In Cast

Turns out Mana has a slight fracture in his leg and requires a cast. Mum was pretty upset when the results came through, but considering how bad the outcome of the incident could have been, we've come off incredibly lightly Praise God!

The doctor's have pretty much given him the 'all clear' in terms of head injury and internal injuries so that's all good! He keeps the cast on for 8 days, they then remove it and re-xray, if all good he keeps the cast off, if not it's back on for another 8 days. He can't be too uncomfortable with it though, he slept through the night for the 1st time last night.

We're now thinking that Humpty Dumpty was pushed and ironically that is possibly how the injuries are so light. Ari may have helped him to the floor, in a sense, and helped to break his fall. Anyway more diligence required.
